Odyssey Dance Theatre will round out its 23rd year with its popular Shut Up & Dance series – three separate programs in repertory – before they head out for their 12th consecutive European Tour. Odyssey’s Spring Repertory Season is where the dancers stretch their article muscle and create new, exiting works! This season will see the return of one of Odyssey’s favorite programs – Let It Be – the Beatles Anthology. The hit of last season – MJ – to the music of Michael Jackson – will become a full-length production. And Purple Rain will consist of a repertory Act I with world premiere works from Derryl Yeager, Megan Adelsberger, and Christian Denice and Act II tribute to the late, great Prince! This year’s Shut Up & Dance will truly be one of the most amazing ODT seasons ever – bringing back old repertory favorites and creating priceless new works – certain to be a dance lover’s buffet – with something for everyone!

Let It Be – return of the full length Beatles Anthology
The return of the smash hit – Derryl Yeager’s full-length work to the music of The Beatles. It includes tunes such as Yesterday, Come Together, and Help. It has received rave reviews and standing ovations everywhere it has played all over the world!

MJ – Last Year’s hit is now a full length version!
The outstanding tribute to music of the King of Pop – Michael Jackson. MJ was an unqualified hit in SLC and Europe last year and received rave reviews and standing ovations wherever it was performed. Using songs from Michael Jackson’s long and varied musical career such as ABC, Rockin’ Robin, Thriller, Earth Song, and Billie Jean – Odyssey has created a moving and dance filled tribute that will make sure you Blame it on the Boogie!

Act 1 – World Premieres
Act II – Purple Rain – celebrating the music of Prince
Act I will consist of three repertory pieces:
Jump – choreographed by Founder and Artistic Director Derryl Yeager will highlight the terpsichorean skills of Odyssey’s Dancers in a unique display of technique and gravity defying leaps.
A new work by former Odyssey star Megan Adelsberger (seen as the lead Makaila in ODT’s Carmen) who has shown herself to have a unique and independent choreographic voice.
A new work by Christian Denice from the Ballet Jazz de Montreal who has created several notable pieces that have received rave reviews in Europe such as Verso la Luce and Between Disconnect.
Act II will be a tribute to the late, great artist Prince
Purple Rain will celebrate some of his greatest music – with such hits like Little Red Corvette, When Doves Cry, Kiss, and U Got the Look – this touching and dance infused tribute will leave you wanting to Party Like it’s 1999!
