"Be authentic to yourself, Be authentic to your choices. We don’t work this hard for other people to judge us and tear us down. Push through it because you are worth so much more than that."

Diego Ballesteros was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He started dancing at the late age of 14 after being adopted as a teenager. Being placed in a recreational Hip Hop class, he instantly fell in love with movement. He went on to train in Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz Funk, Waacking, House, and many other classes and knew then he wanted to pursue dance further and wished to make a career out of Dance.

Having studied multiple styles of dance following his late start to continue his growing craft, Diego quickly learned his admiration for teaching. He has worked with numerous dance studios, companies and drill teams around the State improving not only technique, but also strengthening movement and building confidence. He has received several awards and recognition for his choreography and unique style. Diego teaches a variety of open classes at Millennium Dance Complex SLC as well as many master classes throughout the Salt Lake Valley.

This is Diego’s 4th season as a company member on Odyssey Dance Theatre. He has had the honor and privilege to be casted in lead roles such as Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, and Drosselmeyer in the Redux Nut-Cracker. Diego has been fortunate to be casted in original works from choreographers such as Christian Denice, Garrett Smith, Derryl Yeager, Bonnie Story and many more. He has had the opportunity to create original choreography on Odyssey Dance Theatre, which is one of his proudest accomplishments as a choreographer. His work was showcased and performed in Utah and all across Germany on the company’s European Tour. Odyssey has been a huge stepping stone in his career and he is grateful for the opportunities the company and his Director have provided him.
